Our Story

Say Hello to Daniel Garcia, Founder and CEO of Salsa Catering & Special Events.
Danny was born in East Harlem and raised in the South Bronx. After receiving his B.A. in Philosophy and working as a law clerk for two years, Danny began working at a family-owned catering company.
There, he discovered that he excelled in marketing and sales and developed a deep passion for food.
So, in 1990, he began taking classes at the Culinary Institute of America. At the young age of 28, with some encouragement from a respected Mentor, Danny took a leap of faith and decided to go out on his own—and that is how Salsa was born!
Salsa is celebrating over 35 years in the catering business. We specialize in traditional Caribbean and Latino cuisine, offering Criollo and Pan-Latino (Mexican, Honduran, and South American) dishes, soul food, and other international menus for various cultural events. Salsa’s food is delicious, and our food presentations are unique.
Danny and his team have catered events for some of the top Fortune 500 companies, including the Fox Corporation and Goldman Sachs, as well as the Mayor of New York City at Gracie Mansion, and several Not-For-Profit organizations, such as El Museo Del Barrio. We also cater to Galas, Employee Events, Picnics, and BBQs, and we had a concession stand in the old Yankee Stadium.
Salsa’s grown from a tiny kitchen in the South Bronx to our current locations in Mount Vernon, East Harlem, and Port Morris.
